01 — THE ATHLETE APPROACH

Grounded in movement.
Built with strength.

Athletic development starts with your foundations. It grows through training the whole body.

I programme sessions in a deliberate order: activation, athletic movement, a main lift, supporting strength work and core. Fascia-focused training, plyometrics and traditional strength work all have a place within that structure.

Biomechanics is part of the coaching throughout: paying attention to how you organise your body, make contact with the ground and coordinate a movement. The aim is to improve how you move as well as what you can lift. Your goals and experience shape the balance.

HOW I BUILD A SESSION

My sessions follow five stages. The exercises change with the day and the person; the structure gives the training a clear direction.

Inside a session: the five stages
  1. 01

    Activate & prepare.

Activation first, with mobility or light plyometrics where appropriate. Prepare for the movements coming next.

  2. 02

    Move with intent.

Plyometrics, movement drills or sprints, depending on the session. A dedicated stage for athletic movement before the main lifting work.

  3. 03

    Build with a main lift.

A primary loaded exercise, such as a back squat, forms the building stage of the session.

  4. 04

    Develop your strength.

A block of around four exercises, selected for the day’s focus. On a lower-body day, that means supporting lower-body strength work.

  5. 05

    Finish with core.

A dedicated core section completes the session.

Fascia-focused work and attention to biomechanics run through the programme—from the feet and ankles to how you jump, sprint and lift.

02 — THE TRAINING, UP CLOSE

Different demands.
One approach.

Three parts of the training. See the movements, then explore how they can fit your programme.

01 / FOUNDATIONS

Foot & ankle work.

Attention to ground contact, balance and coordination, including single-leg drills.

02 / PLYOMETRICS

Jump. Land. React.

Jumping and hopping work with a focus on movement quality, rhythm and the demands of each drill.

03 / STRENGTH

Build under load.

Controlled loaded movements complement the reactive work. Here, a split squat brings single-leg strength into the session.

BIOMECHANICS THROUGHOUT

How you move matters. Coaching looks at positioning, control and coordination across your exercises, with the aim of developing better movement mechanics.

03 — PERSONALISED PROGRAMMING

Your training.
With a plan.

For people who want a structured programme to follow independently.

Built around you.

A personalised plan shaped around your goals, experience, schedule and available equipment.

Fascia-focused work, plyometrics and traditional strength training sit within a clear session structure. The balance and exercises depend on what you want to develop.

06 — YOUR COACH

Meet Tom.

Tom Martin is a personal trainer and football coach whose work brings together strength training, athletic development and movement.

His approach combines fascia-focused training, plyometrics and traditional strength work, with close attention to biomechanics. From foot and ankle foundations to jumping, lifting and core training, each element contributes to a structured programme built around the individual.

Alongside Athlete, Tom founded the Mfangano football academy project in Kenya. His experience coaching footballers informs an approach centred on purposeful training, clear progression and the demands of sport.
